Henrik resigned

When the Rangers finally take to the ice again on Saturday in Buffalo, they will do so with lots of rest, and with their star goalie locked up for the foreseeable future.

Several published reports from the Daily News, ESPN, and TSN indicate that the Rangers have resigned franchise goaltender, Henrik Lunqvist to a 6 year deal worth approxiamately $6.5 million per season. Some of language in the contract still needs to be ironed out, but the Rangers will apparently make the announcement sometime with in the next few days, perhaps as soon as tomorrow.

This is good news, Ranger fans. Having the contract situation out of the way will hopefully allow Henrik to concentrate soley on hockey, which will be key if the Rangers are going to not only make the playoffs, but make some noise. He denies it, but as I stated the other day, I think the contract situation, plus the ailing health of his father was weighing on the King. At least now, the situation he could control is taken finally taken care of.

So that puts to rest any question as to whether Stephen Valiquette's back to back starts this past weekend, were an indication that Henrik had lost favor with the organization. THE KING IS BACK!!!
