Pivotal weekend for the Blueshirts

After winning 4 out of their last 5 games, including 3 straight over the Flyers, Canadiens, and Devils, the Rangers continued their pattern of one step forward, 2 steps back by dropping their last 2 games, and find themselves with 2 pivotal games this weekend, with back-to-back tilts against the Flyers this afternoon, and the Capitals tomorrow before getting 5 days off due to the NHL's awful scheduling.

I cannot emphasize enough, the importance of these next 2 games. The Rangers need points, and they need them badly. The good news is they are playing the Flyers, whom they always seem to beat in their building. The bad news is they're playing the Capitals 24 hours later, whom they always seem have trouble with.

Stephen Valiquette, will get the start today against the Flyers, giving Henrik Lundqvist a day to collect his thoughts, following a not so great performance against the Ducks the other night, before he gets the nod for the matinée against the Caps tomorrow in Washington.

Brendan Shanahan will not play today, nor tomorrow as he is still recovering from a sore knee. The plan is to give Shanny this whole week off and so he can hopefully be ready to play next weekend, when the Rangers travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres.

Marcel Hossa will also not play as he will miss his 11th consecutive game with back spasms.

Sorry there are no links, but I'm running late for an appointment. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to edit later.

Enjoy the games. And as always, LET'S GO RANGERS!!

Lundquist is a concern. He has been giving 3 or 4 regularly and a lot have been soft. If he doesn't pick up his game, we are done.

So who picked the colors first, the Rangers or Giants?

Well technically, the Giants came out a year before we did...so I guess they did! :-(
